As Europe moves toward a circular wood-based panel industry, forecasting MDF waste is key to improving recycling and resource recovery. The EcoReFibre project is developing tools to better anticipate this waste and support greater reuse of wood. On June 24, 2025, from 15:30 to 16:30 (CEST) an EcoReFibre webinar presented the model designed to predict future MDF waste generation across Europe. This webinar will provided a brief introduction to the EcoReFibre (ERF) project by Stergios Adamopoulos, Coordinator of EcoReFibre at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU). It wasfollowed by an overview of the MDF waste modelling work currently being led by Ecole Supérieure du Bois and FCBA – Institut Technologique. Mark Irle presented a data-driven forecasting model designed to estimate future volumes of waste fibreboard across Europe.
