Circular wood waste and terminology

Terminology related to wood waste and recycled wood varies widely across the EU due to differing legal definitions and the absence of EU-wide end-of-waste criteria for wood. As a result, wood that remains a valuable resource is often legally classified as waste. To support clarity, within EcoReFibre project, key terms such as wood waste, secondary raw material and recovered wood are used consistently. A table summarising the terminology is provided below.
