Oslo, 10–12 October 2023 – Over 140 researchers from 16 countries gathered for the 19th Annual Meeting of the Northern European Network for Wood Science and Engineering (WSE), hosted by NIBIO. This year’s theme—“Wood and Wood Product Recycling and Reuse”—highlighted challenges and opportunities in circular wood use.

The programme featured 50 presentations and 30 posters, with strong participation from PhD students. A dedicated workshop offered hands-on training in wood recycling and sustainability policy.

Awards were given for top student presentations and posters, while project highlights like EcoReFibre showed how waste wood can be turned into new products.

The WSE network continues to grow as a key platform for scientific exchange. The 20th anniversary meeting will be held in Edinburgh in 2024, themed “Time”.
